Sacred Milestones, Reimagined... The Power of Pausing for Joy

Lately, I’ve been feeling it - maybe you have too.
The division. The anger. The violence. The disconnection.
So much feels like it’s unraveling, and we’ve lost our center.
In the midst of chaos, fear, and so much uncertainty, I keep repeating these words:
Joy is a revolutionary act.
Creating beauty and celebration in the middle of the storm shows strength.
Pausing to mark something good gives us the resilience to rise when it’s our time to stand in the arena.
It’s late spring now, and the season of parties is in full swing.
Weddings. Baby showers. Graduations.
All beautiful, meaningful milestones.
And I’ve also been questioning…
Why do we cram all our “big celebrations” into the first 30 years of life?
Why are we still teaching that the pinnacle of womanhood is getting married, having babies, and raising kids… and then what?
The music fades?
The guests go home?
We shrink?
I don’t think so.
Let’s rewrite the script. Let’s extend the joy. Let’s celebrate the second and third acts of our lives with just as much glitter, ceremony, and unapologetic delight.
🔥 Had your first hot flash? That’s a Perimenopause Party.
🔥 Made it through menopause? You’ve earned a Sage Ceremony.
🔥 Started your own company at 53? Host your own Purpose Party.
🔥 Launched a non-profit, wrote a book, took a solo trip, healed from heartbreak?
These are milestones worth music.
Worth toasts.
Worth gathering for.
There is power in pausing for joy.
Here are some celebration ideas we can start creating today:
Perimenopause Party – honoring the first signs of transition
Sage Ceremony – marking the wisdom years (and surviving peri!)
Solo Sabbatical Send-Off – celebrating a season of self-discovery
Empty Nest Fiesta – not grieving the loss, but honoring the launch
Courage Comeback – after divorce, illness, or loss
Creative Birth Bash – for books, art, or business launches
True Self Toast – for those who come out later in life
Homecoming Party – when you return to a passion or fulfill a dream
Retirement Rebirth – because this isn’t the end, it’s a beginning
Let’s expand the definition of what it means to be worthy of celebration.
Let’s honor transformation, resilience, courage, and creativity at every age.
Let’s gather around more than just weddings and baby showers.
Add your voice to this movement:
What celebration would YOU add to the list?
Let’s build a new culture of joy to counter the dread… to fuel us and fill our cups.
Let’s circle up and celebrate one sacred, fierce, fabulous milestone at a time.
